BOUSE, Arizona, is located in west-central Arizona, only 30 miles from the Colorado River on
State Highway 72. Bouse lies in the midst of unspoiled desert lands, surrounded by low, rocky
hills. Known as the "Arizona Outback", Bouse is rich in natural beauty.

Clean air and sunshine along with a relaxed atmosphere and year-round growing season are
    attractive to many newcomers to the area. The town is primarily a small retirement community;
however, our wide-open spaces and country flavor is found to be appealing to young families as
    well.

The town was founded in 1906 and was a thriving mining town until the late 1920s when the
mines began to play out. The hills around Bouse are dotted with old, abandoned mines and digs
left by the early settlers, some of which date back to the 1860s. This area has become a favorite
"collecting area" of the "Rockhounds" and "Bottle Hunters". Swansea is a popular "ghost town"
    nearby.
Approximate population is 900 permanent residents; however, in the winter the population swells
    to around 3,000 residents.

    RECREATION

Opportunities for any imaginable water sports abound in the area. Parker, only 27 miles to the
north, offers access to the beautiful Colorado River where water skiing, boating, fishing,
swimming and water activities are endless.
Parker is the location for many of the major boat races. The Parker 400 (off-road race) is held
    annually in this area.
Quartzsite is renown for its annual Gem and Mineral Shows and is located less than 30 miles
from Bouse. The population in Quartzsite explodes to usually over a million people in the winter.
Alamo Lake is the "Bass Tournament" lake of La Paz County. Boating and fishing are year-round
activities and is only 40 miles to the east, near Salome and Wenden.Phoenix is a short 100 miles
South east of Bouse and, of course, has all the "big city" amenities.
Lake Havasu City is just 60 miles north and has many recreational activities as well as shopping
centers. The lake and the Colorado River offer year-round entertainment.Yuma (Arizona’s third
largest city) is located about 90 miles South. There are many activities there as well as a border
crossing to Mexico. Yuma also hosts Arizona Western College (with a satellite campus in Parker)
which affiliates with Northern Arizona University to offer full BA/BS degree programs in education
    and other fields.
